Why Fishbowl Public Relations?
At Fishbowl Public Relations we understand that organisations are constantly under scrutiny. The name reflects this and has multiple meanings.
- It’s about getting an outsider’s perspective on your business
- It’s a reference to the contemporary expression
| "Fishbowl....a place, job, or condition in which one's activities are open to public view or scrutiny…" |
| From The online dictionary |
- It portrays the sense that
| “..the internal communication problems are reflected in the external image.” |
| From Clampitt, 2001, Communicating for managerial effectiveness |
|
|
| From Cornelissen, 2005, Corporate communications theory and practice |
- A fishbowl is an engagement tool
| “… the fishbowl process aims to increase people’s understanding of other people’s perspectives on an issue or proposal.” |
| From Effective Engagement: building relationships with community and other stakeholders, 2005 |
Profile - Birgit Schonafinger, MA Org Comm, MPRIA
My first job was as a newspaper journalist and sub-editor and the discipline of deadlines is well ingrained. As well as enjoying writing for understanding, I am an energetic communicator who is passionate about improving communication skills and elevating the role of communication in organisations. I have spent many years working for government organisations in a variety of public relations roles that can best be described as a boundary-rider: being able to objectively consider the sometimes conflicting needs of the stakeholders and the organisation, and advising accordingly.
I like people and have extensive experience working with CEOs, board members and other executives. I launched Fishbowl Public Relations in August 2009 to help organisations that want to pay more attention to quality relationships. Most of all I enjoy challenges and variety and working with innovative teams.
I have a Masters in Organisational Communication from Charles Sturt University.
Contact me – I’d love to discuss your requirements and help you achieve your business objectives.
